  1. It’s worth using some sort of rust protection on exposed metal, especially if you’re using trimming back diseased plants, and bleach to disinfect your tools. Bleach is an oxidizer and will rapidly cause rust if you’re not careful. Some times something as simple as spay paint works to add that protective layer.

Protect your plants with disinfectant, and protect your tools with rust inhibitors.

  2. This technique gave me great results and wish I could post my before and after pictures here ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Laura!

  3. Keen to know what the active ingredient of your scrubbing bubbles is? I am in Ireland and don’t believe that product is available here Any help with this would be appreciated

  4. Iโ€™m so glad to see this! I just got my late Mumโ€™s transplanting shovel, and it needs serious TLC. Its handle has lost its paint too, so I will get the products you used. I also have a pair of expensive loppers, which got left outside, now I know how to rehab them, too.

  5. Such a great video! Thanks for showing how to clean, sharpens and tune up my garden tools!

  6. This was sooooo helpful! I have never really cleaned or sharpened my pruners/lopers, but after watching this, I did! And they work so much better! They *were* so dull it would have been easier to chew off those branches and stems, but now the pruners/lopers do the job just like they were new. Thank you!

  7. You are such a dear. Maybe also a mind reader. My tool need TLC. This video is exactly what I needed to inspire me. Thank You Sweet Laura.

  8. I am so happy to know how to sharpen the blades of my tools. I am tired of buying new trimmers. I have a lopper, straight blade shovel, and rounded lawn trimmer like yours. I bought what were called shapeners that didnโ€™t do what I needed. I canโ€™t wait to get at it now that I know how to do it successfully. Thank you so very much! Now to buy the files.

  9. This is absolutely the best gardening channel. I can find an answer to virtually any question I have. Thank you, and great work.

  10. Seriously? Scrubbing Bubbles and Lysol wipes? Environmentally irresponsible in so many ways, as is the 3-in1 oil. In my garden, I’ll be using a vinegar soak to remove rust, and vegetable oil on the blades to protect them. Mineral oil for the joints, and any serious gardener that I know (plenty) would NEVER mistreat their tools by storing them filthy!

  11. This is the video that I have been looking for!!! Now I’m going refurbish all the gardening tools in my garage!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘โœŒโœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ›

  12. Really great instruction but seriously needs to slow down the speech rate. It would also be helpful to have options for Scrubbing Bubbles incase one does not have Scrubbing Bubbles on hand as well as options for type of file if the carbon blade file is not available. Otherwise, it is a very useful video.

  13. Attention viewers! Linseed oil can be dangerous! Please always remember, that rags full of linseed oil are a self-combusting fire hazard! Large areas (and a rag is a huge area, due to all those little fibres adding to the area) means a big area of rapid oxidisation of the oil. That means it produces heat (exothermic) and heat is what starts fires. The can of linseed rags in your garage or shed can easily start its own fire, all by itself, burning down a building. Put a used rag of linseed oil on a flat stone or asphalt surface and let it dry out. Once dry, it’s safe. Preferably add some weights so it can’t burn away.

  14. Thanks for video
Can u kindly answer my question
How to use a sharpning stone
Diffrence betveen oil and water stone
Can’t find ant video re this

  15. Great video! I am trying to find environmentally friendly options for cleaning. Iโ€™ve tried baking soda but I may have to let it sit awhile before scrubbing.

  16. Laura! I never thought about oiling my tools ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ youโ€™re the best, as always!

  17. Thanks for this video Laura! I didn’t even know you could sharpen your gardening tools! I was always buying a new one whenever my gardening tools got dull. ๐Ÿ˜ณ I just ordered some of the sharpening tools on Amazon! Can’t wait to sharpen everything! ๐Ÿ˜Š
