  3. Steph and George you have a beautiful garden. Steph you are so good at plant placement. Everything looks so good and well thought out.

  4. 😻love your videos. I’m kicking myself for not purchasing a bleeding heart last year. I even past up the plant on clearance 😿.

  5. Hi Steph…..I have a question about your larch tree which this episode wasn’t about but I thought maybe you could give me some ideas. I have a very asymmetrical front landscape on the front of my house. What’s on the left side is basically on the right so you kind of can get a picture. My one 5 year old weeping cherry died and thought of replacing it with a larch tree remembering that you had one in your yard. I know it won’t flower but besides larch there are weeping hemlocks and also weeping redbuds too. How large has yours grown? Have you had any issues? I’m in zone 6b and it will be on the west side of the house if that helps. If whatever I put in doesn’t coordinate with the other side we may consider something else…..thanks!

  6. Loves this tour and seeing so much variety! Would love to know what some of your conifers and evergreens are that are working in the shade, not just the perennials.

  7. I have been a Garden Answer fan but then I ran across your channel!
I love the variety you share and the doable way you garden for the everyday home gardener, with a shovel instead of a drill. And your husband was using a watering can .

  8. The shiny green one you planted should last a long time! I dug some up from a ladies yard last fall and she said they were 20 yrs old! Threw them in the ground and they are still green! And I’m in Alaska

  9. Steph, your shade garden is absolutely gorgeous! The colors and textures are your artistic medium! Such talent and beauty! It’s an inspiration!

  10. Great timing on this video! I have a shady area where I am developing a new bed and this will be my first foray into shade gardening! Looking forward to adding some of these beautiful plants next spring. I am particularly drawn to the Japanese fern and grasses and plan to start some lady’s mantle and astilbe from seed. Thank you so much!

  11. Highly recommend shredded umbrella – unique texture and when it emerges it looks especially magical (and it’s super easy to grow)

  12. Steph & George – I absolutely love your Japanese Maple gardens! You have a wonderful eye for mixing colors, Shade gardens are my favorite. Well done!

  13. I love your garden! It’s always so neat and put together looking. You and your husband do a great job. I started a YouTube channel (Patty B. Gardening), but our hot, humid Mississippi summers hit a little different than yours, I think. Plus, we’re very rural with very few garden centers or plant departments at the big box stores that even have any plants available this time of year. I guess they’ve had it with the heat and humidity too.😂 But I will not allow myself to be envious of what you have. I’m proud for you, and I’m proud of what I’m able to do in my rural area! Keep up the good work!👍

  14. Wonderful video Steph and George! The shade garden is stunning! Beautiful colors! Since most of my gardens are shade I am always excited to find new plants I don’t have! I am on the search for the Hakonechloa grass now! Thank you!

  15. Beautiful shade garden the combination of plants is well done. I find that I enjoy creating shade gardens over sun.

  16. How long can you keep a potted plant ie: Japanese maples, before they have to go into the ground?

  17. Beautiful garden Steph! Thank you guys for sharing it with us! I’m talking to you as well George! 😊♥️

  18. Hey Steph…are you planning on attending Cultivate this weekend? It’s 7/13 – 7/16 in Ohio.

  20. what is that droopy/fallling blue spruce type plant?? its so pretty! Just discovered your channel and loving it so far! 🙂

  21. Steph… OH MY ! I notice that your trees and plants have grown SOOO much this year. Your Beds are spectacular. In my Bridgewater garden I also noticed the huge growth of my hostas and my old blue hydrangeas have never been so gorgeous. I owe it to all the rain we got early in spring.

  22. I just discovered your channel. Subscribed right away! Question…. I heard you say you were in zone 6. What state are you in? I’m an Ohio gardener and just like to compare my fellow zone 6ers.😊

  23. Everything is looking great Steph. I finished the mulch in the front and yes definitely tooo hot. Great video. Look forward to the next one.❤❤❤
